Hiring a Landscaper

Choosing the right landscaping is crucial to having great curb appeal and healthy yard. Hiring a landscaper is similar to hiring any other type of contractor. We have put together the following check list when considering to hire the right landscaping company.

  • Work to be Performed - First figure out the type of work you are interested in having completed. Common jobs include weekly lawn mowing, fertilizing, reseeding, sprinkler installation, replacing old shrubs and bushes with new ones, mulching, etc. A landscaper can help you decide on the best plan to fit your budget.
  • Contract - Always be sure that the work to be performed is listed in a contract with the agreed upon schedule, cost, date to be performed, and any warranties.
  • Experience - How long has the company been in business? Will the owner be performing the work or will it be subcontracted? Do employees have experience?
  • References - Ask for photos of past projects and also ask for references. Be sure to call references and also check out landscaper reviews online.
  • Guarantees - Does the landscaper guarantee their work and if so for how long? Guarantees should cover your grass, trees, or shrubs dying after a certain period of time and replacement if the landscaper is at fault.

Landscaping costs can vary quite a bit by contractor. Make sure you contact at least 3-4 different landscaping companies so you can choose from multiple quotes!
